About Us

In recent months, there has been much discussion in the Church in the United States about the situation of contemplative nuns. There have been various articles and videos published online giving different opinions and viewpoints. However, very few of these statements, either written or recorded, were made by contemplative nuns themselves. The great majority of them were by lay persons, very few of whom had actually experienced the life of a contemplative community of nuns. This life is quite different from what people imagine it to be. Even monks and friars who themselves belong to contemplative orders only know our life from the outside. The view of our life, as we see it, is quite different from the descriptions of it that we read.

However well intentioned the recent articles and recordings have been, they have caused a great deal of confusion in the minds of many good Catholics. Those who love contemplative nuns are deeply concerned by events that are seen to be attacks on our vocation and our charisms. Even priests are confused when they read some of the statements that appear online. For laypersons, these statements can be deeply disturbing.

We value the love that is shown in all this worry for us, for no one would worry about our future if they did not love us and cherish our vocation. Because we appreciate deeply this love, we who actually live at the center of these concerns want to do what we can to allay the fears that assail many devout Catholics. Our Lord loves His contemplatives too much to let us be seriously disturbed in any way. He calls us to follow Him and though the path may be challenging, every step brings us new graces. We know Who guides us and we are safe in His love. It is this assurance that we want to share with you through this website and the activities connected with it.
